My East Coast Trip – Philadelphia, PA

This will be my longest post evaaarrr so you have been warned. =)

From April 8th – April 12th I took a trip to the East Coast in order to sightsee and see one of my favorite bands in concert, Blue October. The band played in Philadelphia, New York City and Washington DC and since I had never been to the East Coast I figured I’d pack up some clothes and my camera and make the trip. I flew into Philly, then took a train to New York City then took a train to Washington DC then flew home to Houston from there. All in all I had an absolute blast and would do it again in a heartbeat! Here are a few photos from the trip…

New York, NY – Day 1

I booked this room at The Jane Hotel SPECIFICALLY for this photo! I thought it would be hilarious! The rooms are only 50sq ft total and the “bed” took up more that half of that. The door wasn’t even a standard 3ft wide. I did have my own fan, a/c unit, small window, small flat screen tv all for $89 a night in the West Village in New York City. No bathroom/shower so I had to use the community one at the end of the hall… CLASSY!! =)

Brooklyn Bridge. There were a few steel eyes that stuck out of the structure and every single one of them had padlocks attached to them left by visitors. I thought it was a pretty cool thing. Many of the locks had dates, names, places they were from etc. Pretty cool in my book.

Citi Field. I left the game around the third inning in order to get out and see more sights around town since my stay in NYC was very limited.

View from the 86th floor observation deck of the Empire State Building. You can see the Flatiron Building in the dead center of the image with the Brooklyn Bridge on the far upper left hand side just near the horizon. This is looking towards downtown. The observation deck closes at 2am so I got up there just in time to get some photos and look around before they closed for the day. It was a very long day indeed!

I cut the day short as I had the Blue October concert to go to that night. I met up with a friend of mine from Houston, Brent Delahoussaye which was also in town for the same concert and I got a second tour around the city via a limo with him and his group of friends that are originally from the NY/NJ area. As soon as I told my new found east coast friends about my small hotel room they said we had to get a photo of all of us in the room at the end of the night! So after the concert and after closing the bars down (which I did not know was at 4am! wow!) here we all are… including our limo driver at 6am the next morning! Crazy Night!!! Good Times!! =)
